Youth Action and Engagement features innovative heritage projects

The latest issue of Youth Action and Engagement, a publication funded through the Cabinet Office which highlights innovative work with young people, has a theme of young people and heritage and it features five examples of organisations working with young volunteers in different heritage settings.

In the past these in-depth case studies, written in partnership with the projects themselves, have been useful in raising a wider awareness of effective practice. The five studies here feature the work of museums, libraries and archives and show the value of combining heritage with a medium with which young people are familiar, such as music, tourism, art, video and photography.

Positive outcomes for all concerned are explored, particularly in terms of skills development for young people and the potential for youth organisations and heritage organisations to build partnerships offering a range of exciting activities and which help build capacity and expertise in working with young people.
