CILIP’s Community Services Group’s Information Literacy Group is inviting you to a training event for anyone interested in developing their information literacy (IL) training practices.
The event is free of charge and will be held on Wednesday 10 October at Derby University's Dovedale Suite, Kedleston Road Campus, Kedleston Road, Derby, DE22 1GB.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
The course is an opportunity for children’s librarians and other interested staff to explore the meaning and importance of information literacy for children and young people and to identify practical strategies for supporting it through the public library.
Expected learning outcomes:
- more understanding of information literacy and its relevance in the public library
- greater awareness of digital citizenship
- more knowledge of different learning styles and ways to support them
- effective methods for fostering information literacy and independent learning
- ideas for helping young people learn how to find, evaluate and use information
- opportunities to share good practice
