Applications are invited for projects promoting the understanding of 20th century conflict through the £420,000 Their Past Your Future 2 fund. The fund opens on 20 February 2008 and will close on the 23 May 2008. The maximum amount for a single project is £10,000. Successful projects will be notified at the end of June 2008.
The money is available for museums, libraries and archives in England who can develop programmes, workshops, exhibitions and events which increase community and inter-generational learning and young people’s knowledge and understanding of the impact and contemporary significance of conflict.
Their Past Your Future 2 is the second phase of the Big Lottery Fund three-year programme. Eve Pattinson, Their Past Your Future Project Manager, at MLA, said: “Projects based around themes of remembrance and commemoration, citizenship, diversity, conflict resolution and peacekeeping enable young people and their communities to learn from past conflicts.
“Museums, libraries and archives are ideal partners for such work as they provide the opportunity to see, touch and discuss objects, learn new research techniques and ultimately provide us with a new and enhanced dimension to the way in which we view our history.”
