MLA restructures regional agencies

As a result of the Comprehensive Spending Review and cuts to its funding, MLA Council is restructuring. As part of this, the MLA Council Board, at its 19 February meeting, agreed to changes that will result in the replacement of regional MLA agencies, including MLA East Midlands, with a unified single structure from April 2009.

The changes stem from a universal desire to improve and continue the work of MLA in supporting the museums, libraries and archives sector in the regions, but the changes will mean significant change.

MLA East Midlands remains committed to the aims of supporting the sector and to furthering the excellent progress made over the last year.

The change process will inevitably raise many questions and MLA East Midlands is planning to hold an informal face to face briefing in the near future to give museums, libraries and archives the opportunity to ask questions and find out more.

MLA East Midlands looks forward to working with museums, libraries and archives over the coming months, strengthening its partnerships and delivering excellence with, and on behalf of, the sector.
