The Cultural Leadership Programme has launched a series of new Leadership Development Days to support and enhance the leadership potential of black, Asian and ethnic minority people, disabled people and people working in micro-businesses in cultural and creative industries.
The Leadership Development Days roll out across the UK from October 2007 until March 2008. The one-day workshops will inspire, challenge and provide creative leadership support for those about to take on leadership roles.
As Stella Kanu, a previous participant, said: "It truly is a fantastic programme that I would unreservedly recommend to even the most seminar/workshop wary professional. I actually feel that I can see a clear way forward - nothing drastic or even earth shattering - I can just see more clearly. Most, if not all, of us found it a genuinely refreshing space. A fun, focused and realistically pitched day. A resource that has been long overdue in the creative and cultural sector."
Following the success and demand for the first series of Leadership Development Days, a more advanced Leadership Development Day has been developed, LDDplus. These days are intended for those who have previously attended a Leadership Development Day or those who have been in middle or senior management or leadership roles for a little while.

The priority for disabled people is in line with the CLP/Arts Council's duties under the Disability Equality Duty and the priority for people of African, Asian and Caribbean descent is in line with the exemption given in the Race Relations Act 1976 under sections 35[1] and 37[2]. These exemptions allow for discrimination on the grounds of race and are aimed at reducing the under-representation of certain ethnic groups.
