Cultural Olympiad cultural programmer needed

A network of experienced regional representatives is to be set up to move forward government plans for the Cultural Olympiad in the run-up to the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

The East Midlands, like all other English regions, will have its own Creative Programmer to:

  • Encourage and enable arts and cultural bodies to get involved, and create opportunities for ordinary people to take part,
  • Become a dynamic link between the regions and London's 2012 organising committee (LOCOG),
  • Assess whether local projects meet the criteria to become part of the Cultural Olympiad,
  • Ensure that each region's heritage is as well represented as its 21st century technology.

The post for the East Midlands has just been advertised – visit the  Guardian jobs pages and the LOCOG website for more information.

The new post holder will be employed by Culture East Midlands and will be supported by a reference group consisting of key regional stakeholders, including MLA East Midlands and Renaissance East Midlands.
