The National Media Museum, in partnership with the British Universities Film and Video Council and Screen Archive South East, is carrying out a national survey to uncover artefacts relating to film and television. With the support of Renaissance, the survey will pave the way for the first-ever directory of UK moving image and screen-related objet d'art.
The lead partners are part of the UK Screen Heritage Network, a group of museums, archives, media producers, broadcasters and academic institutions. Over the next few months, the network will be contacting museums and archives seeking to uncover the film and television related treasures held in their collections.
An online survey was launched on 24 September and will run until 30 November 2007. It is open to any UK collection with artefacts relating to the moving image and screen-related media which may be accessible to the public or researchers. The information gathered will be used to create the first-ever online database of moving image objects in UK collections.
The survey form and further information on the project and the network can be found at the Screen Heritage website.
