The Archive Awareness Campaign 2007 has been launched to help promote activities and resources available at archives and record offices across England.
Archives are being encouraged to organise events linked to the theme of 'Freedom and Liberty', particularly related to the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. However, all events can be promoted on the Archives Awareness website, which provides details of activities happening in each region.
Archives and Record Offices can upload information onto the website through the contributors’ area on the website.
Led by The National Archives, the National Council on Archives and the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, the Archive Awareness Campaign runs through autumn 2007 when hundreds of archives across the UK are throwing open their doors and inviting everyone in to take part in some fantastic events and discover a little bit of their own history.
