This is a partnership between MLA East Midlands and Renaissance East Midlands and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to provide business development information and support to East Midlands museums in ERDF Objective 2 areas. The programme aimed to help museums explore some of their business systems and operations and to incorporate some of the positive aspects of business including long term planning, making business decisions, use of IT and effective budgeting.
The museum 2 business (M2B) programme began in October 2006 and ran to June 2008. Support and advice for museums in Objective 2 areas was available throughout this time.
In addition, Selina Fellows, Retail & Marketing Consultant, was commissioned to research and recommend opportunities for museums to use e-commerce to trade and market their attractions. One of the key findings of Selina's report is the need to engage with the internet as a business tool - whether as a marketing tool to reach new audiences or as a commercial tool to offer goods and services.

The Museum 2 Business programme has also developed a matrix of organisations and others who can provide business-related support and training and a toolkit outlining ideas for business improvements for museums and highlighting the kind of support that is available.
