On foot from Leicester railway station

MLA East Midlands is a five to ten minute walk from the railway station

  • Leave the concourse by the main entrance (with ticket booths to your right).

  • Cross straight across the covered car park and exit by the gate opposite.

  • Cross the three sets of traffic light controlled pedestrian crossings to the pavement of the Royal Insurance building opposite.

  • Take the pavement, alongside the dual carriageway (Waterloo Way).

  • Cross a side street, and pass a converted church on your right.

  • The path follows the line of the road, but climbs gently to a higher level. At the top, in approximately 200m the path meets a broad pedestrian way (New Walk), which crosses the road on a bridge to the left, and with the Museum ahead on the right.

  • Turn right on to New Walk and pass the Museum, now to your left.

  • Immediately after the Museum, take the path diagonally to the left across Museum Square (grassed, with horse chestnut tree in centre).

  • The road parallel to New Walk on the other side of the square is Princess Road West. Turn right and proceed for about 60m.

  • MLA East Midlands is situated on the corner of King Street and Princess Road West.

  • The front door to 56 King Street is located on King Street, please proceed through the main door and press the intercom for MLA East Midlands.

By car from:

Junction 21, M1/M69

  • From motorway take Leicester A5460

  • Avoiding signs for outer ring road, continue to large roundabout. Take second exit (A5460), dual carriageway (Narborough Road).

  • Continue along Narborough Road, passing in about one mile the Jaguar showroom on the left. Continue straight on through shopping area. Pass garage on left and look out for large red brick church on left at traffic lights.

  • At those lights turn right into Upperton Road (signposted to Leicester Royal Infirmary). Upperton road continues into Walnut Street.

  • At the junction (Infirmary on left and Tigers ground in front) move into right hand lane and proceed left (one way system) then veer to the right in front of a car park (signed to railway station).  After the traffic lights, with a park on your left and car park on your right, move into the left hand lane (in front of the park) and follow the road round to the left and into Tigers Way (dual carriageway).

  • At second set of traffic lights on Tigers Way, turn left into Regent Road.

  • At church traffic lights, turn right onto King Street.

  • MLA East Midlands is situated on the corner of King Street and Princess Road West (which is the first right off King Street).

  • For the nearest multi storey car park, turn left on to Marquis Street and left on Duke Street. On road metered parking (up to max 3 hours/current charge £1.80) is available on King Street, Princess Road West and Crescent Street.

A14 (Cambridge etc.) and A6 (Market Harborough)

  • Turn off the A14 after (west of) bypassing Kettering, on route signposted to Leicester through Rothwell, Desborough, etc. This route bypasses Market Harborough on the North East, and joins the 'old' A6 to Leicester at a roundabout near Foxton.

  • Proceed north along the A6 following signs to Leicester/City Centre.

  • Approaching the outskirts of Leicester, through Oadby, follow signs to city centre passing:- 

    -  large Sainsbury's on left 

    -  Asda on right 

    -  Roundabout with racecourse on left

  • Continue for about two miles from racecourse. 

  • Continue straight over at next roundabout passing Victoria Park on left. 

  • At traffic lights turn left (signposted University) into Granville Road/Regent Road.

  • From Granville Road continue down Regent Road (signposted Infirmary).

  • Cross three sets of traffic lights.

  • At church traffic lights, turn right onto King Street.

  • MLA East Midlands is situated on the corner of King Street and Princess Road West (which is the first right off King Street).

A6 (Loughborough)

  • Entry to Leicester is signalled by a short dual-carriageway, 'City of Leicester' sign and large roundabout.

  • Take third exit into narrow 30mph road signposted City Centre A6.

  • Keep straight on for one mile until road merges at lights with the A46 Newark road, which now becomes a dual-carriageway.

  • Follow directions from A46 Newark.

 

A46 (Newark)

  • Follow city centre signs along dual carriageway (Melton Road) - an area well known for its Indian shops and restaurants (and a large number of traffic lights!)

  • Go over first flyover you encounter.

  • Turn left at the second flyover onto the Central Ring Road dual carriageway (St Matthews Way).

  • Keep straight on at next roundabout, then follow A6 Market Harborough signs through several sets of traffic lights.

  • Continue to follow A6 signs until you reach the railway station on your left, then turn right onto Waterloo Way (following signs to A50 Northampton).

  • Ignore the first right turn, move into right hand filter lane and turn right at first set of traffic lights into Regent Road.

  • At church traffic lights, turn right onto King Street.

  • MLA East Midlands is situated on the corner of King Street and Princess Road West (which is the first right off King Street).

A47 (Peterborough) 

  • Entry to Leicester is signalled as you pass through Bushby and Thurnby (Coles Nurseries on right).

  • Look for City of Leicester sign and 30mph restrictions, followed by sharpish bend to right.

  • Immediately turn left into Spencefield Lane (signposted Leicester Airport and Farmworld).

  • Continue for 2.9 miles. Spencefield Lane leads to Evington Lane/Evington Road, passing:- 

    -  small shopping area 

    -  golf course on left 

    -  mosque on right/church on left 

    -  more shops 

  • Road meets London Road (A6) at traffic lights. 

  • Proceed straight across (signposted to University) into Granville Road/Regent Road.

  • From Granville Road continue down Regent Road (signposted Infirmary).

  • Cross three sets of traffic lights.

  • At church traffic lights, turn right onto King Street.

A50 (Northampton)

  • Follow A50 into Leicester to junction with University Road. University Road is a right turn approx. 100m after Sainsbury's Homebase (on left at traffic lights).

  • Turn right at next traffic lights into University Road.

  • Continue past the main University campus and turn left at the second set of traffic lights into Regent Road.

  • Follow Regent Road through a pedestrian crossing and a second set of traffic lights.

  • At church traffic lights, turn right onto King Street.
